The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet cancelled departure records for Ugandans scheduled to travel to the United Arab Emirates commercial capital of Dubai.
Air travel to the Middle East was affected at the weekend after the US and Israel attacked Iran leading to a drawn-out war in the Middle East, with Dubai International Airport hard-hit by the travel chaos.
According to Simon Mundeyi, the Internal Affairs ministry spokesperson, all citizens who were meant to travel to Dubai—including those already cleared—should contact the ministry to have their departure records formally cancelled, in order to avoid future travel inconveniences.
The ministry clarified that affected travelers remain listed as cleared in the system while the ongoing investigations proceed.
Mundeyi also provided guidance on visa-free travel for Ugandan passport holders, noting that travelers to such destinations must present confirmed hotel bookings and a return air ticket upon arrival.
Failure to meet these requirements could result in denied entry, despite the visa-free arrangement.
Meanwhile, the ministry has issued a warning to Ugandans about unscrupulous individuals operating along Nkrumah Road, Nasser Road, and Dewinton Road in Kampala.
These areas have been identified as hotspots for the processing of fake passports and other fraudulent travel documents.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to urge all travelers to ensure their travel documents are legitimate and properly processed through official channels.
